The Lighted Tree was more than a building. It was a courtyard, a gathering place, a family—and an unforgettable part of LGBTQ+ history in St. Pete Beach.

Bedrox was a safe home away from home for gay and lesbian residents and visitors at the southern tip of Treasure Island. These were the places where friendships began, chosen families grew, music played, and a community stood proudly together.

St. Patrick’s Day

A favorite Bedrox story

Seventy-five TV dinners saved the day.

When Kim was trying to get the Bedrox liquor license, an inspector announced that a seven-course meal had to be served. Kim went to the store and bought 75 TV dinners. Sixty-five people came in from the beach, ate every one—and Bedrox got the license!
